Merrina Mendez

Community Relations Coordinator

Merrina holds a degree in Human Sciences with a focus on Human Development & Family Studies from Stephen F. Austin State University. Before joining CHP, she gained valuable experience working with various nonprofit organizations in Colorado and the Florida panhandle, specializing in domestic and sexual violence advocacy, human trafficking awareness, and efforts supporting survivors. Additionally, Merrina has expertise in advocating for and supporting youth experiencing homelessness in El Paso County through street outreach, housing, and development initiatives. Through this work, Merrina has developed the ability to unite people toward a common goal, fostering positive outcomes and meaningful change.

In her current role, Merrina plays a key part in driving efforts to make homelessness rare, brief and nonrecurring through collaboration and alignment with the Pikes Peak Continuum of Care and PPCoC membership. 

Outside of work, Merrina enjoys discovering new restaurants to review, participating in animal rescue efforts, and collecting stamps.
